The Brazilian Adventure: Week 60 July 21 -- July 27
My Dearest beloved Family and Friends:
I swear, I don´t think I could describe to you how amazing this missionary work is. Last week on Monday night, Elder Cifuentes and I were running around saying bye to the rest of our converts and some of our investigators who are going to be baptised. It was so amazing. I felt the spirit so strong. It is kinda funny sometimes because you have to explain it to them a lot of times. And sometimes when you have to explain, it gets worse and worse during the explanation. "Well we have these things called transfers that happen sometimes to us missionaries and well we are going to be transferred." They ask "What is a transfer?" then we say "It means that we are leaving to go to another area in SO Paulo." They ask "oh man, well when are you guys coming back?" Then we say "Well you see...we can´t come back" Then they say "What? Not even to visit? not even right after the 2 years before you go back home?" Then we say, "No, we can´t" Then they ask with tears in their eyes, "Well when are you guys leaving this week?" Then we answer "Tomorrow, really early in the morning" Then we just all start to cry together and tell each other some words of comfort and they tell us how we are their angels and all their appreciation to us. It is just sad to me and it was hard for all of us. There were a lot of tears and I kinda felt like a hero. I felt like I really didn´t do much. But then again, I kinda really didn´t do much, It was all the Lord. I´m so thankful that I have been given this blessed opportunity to be an instrument in the Lords hands. I love my converts and I´m going to miss them, i´m going to keep writing to them. I can´t wait to find more. I can´t wait to find the ones that I have promised to find before this life. Man, I love being a missionary.
My new area now is São Marcos in Embu das Artes. This area is smaller then my last area. The members here are supper awesome! I love my area already. My new companions name is Elder G. Fernandes. He is from Belem, Pará. He is cool. Tomorrow he is going to have 6 months on his mission. He works hard. We are already finding a lot of great families to teach. But they just have a problem with getting up in the morning for church. Church here is at 8:30 in the morning. And we are also running into some men who don´t want to get married. Ah! these are so... Something! ah! But hopefully they can change. I´m going to continue to be district leader. This is my 5th transfer being district leader. I´m now going to have 3 other pairs of missionaries. That's 8 missionaries including my companion and I. It is only going to be hard doing splits three times a week. I kinda don´t like it because then I´m not going to be in my area so much. But I´m just going to be obedient and make the best of it. I´m going to teach a lot and learn a lot.
I love you all, hope you are all doing good.
Be Happy
Love The Elder Jones
