The Brazilian Adventure: Week 14 September 2-- September 8
Dear Family and Friends
Wow, it is so awesome here. The work here is so great. The people here are ready to hear to gospel. There is so much work to do, now I just need to learn how to manage it all and learn how to work supper effectively. The people here are so awesome. The members here are so great. They are so kind and nice. The other day, it was cold out side. But if you know me, I don´t know what cold means. So I wasn´t wearing a sweatshirt or coat. And one time when we were at seminary, teaching some investigators, a member walked up to me and gave me a little sweatshirt. And I just accepted it because I didn´t know how to explain in Portuguese that I don´t need it. It was so awesome, The members here love missionaries. They take care of us good.
This mission in Brazil is sweet! But I will say this, some missionaries actually told me that we have one of the most dangerous missions in the world. We have the part of the city that has a high crime rate. I have heard a lot of stories of missionaries getting mugged with guns. So I might get mugged here. We will see what happens. And so I won´t be taking many pictures while I´m here. Which kinda sucks. My first area is an area outside the main city of Sao Paulo. I´m in the more jungle area. Which is sweet. I´m also in a area that has a lot of poverty. The people here are supper poor. Their houses aren´t the greatest in the world. They are such a humble people. Many of them have so little and they still give so much. I admire them so much, they are teaching me a lot. Like I said before, the work here is crazy good. My companion and I teach so many lessons and talk to so many people everywhere. We walk so much, and the streets here are supper crazy to walk on. My shoes are already getting torn apart. The people here are already supper religious. Many people know who we are and know what we do. Most people have a lot respect for missionaries.
This is a random story. One time we were walking down the street at night on the side walk. And then all of a sudden we surprised this cat that was laying down in front of us. The cat jumped up and ran from us into the street, but then a car came by and BAMMMM!!!!! Hit right into this cat. The cats body flew across the street back to the sidewalk, flipp floppen all over the place. I thought it was dead for sure, but it was so weird. It just jumped right back up like nothing happen and kept running across the street. It was crazy!! I was like, da heck! I guess cats really do have 9 lives. No that one is on its 8th.
Wow, there is so much more. I´m out of time though. I hope you all are doing great. Peace out until next time.
Love your Elder, The Elder Jones
